The project is located in the La Perla Shopping Center District, in the City of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. It is an exercise in urban integration that combines modernity through architecture and tradition in the activities of the community in Jalisco.

The facade converges at a vertex that forms the union of two avenues, it is formed by a grid of triangular modules with flat pieces and in low relief, forming a subtracted pyramid, which when rotated allows multiple variables, and when combined it manages to transmit the sensation of movement. The texture rotates along the walls of the façade, which points to and accentuates the main access to the store. In addition to the set of reliefs, the same geometry has been transferred to the openings through windows that frame the exterior urban context and allow natural lighting inside.

The intention of this facade is that as the day passes, the solar illumination generates games of shadows and reflections. Therefore, the facade always looks different, even at night, thanks to the lighting design. It is important to point out that the scale of the project was decisive for the modulation, the composition responds to the large canvas of the envelope, without losing sight of the user, it is interesting to observe in an open view how the human figure is embraced by the games of lines and their own shadows.

The facade construction is made from prefabricated white concrete on metal frames, the material allows minimal maintenance, and being a designed piece allows the least number of adjustments in placement.

Htan San Cave was discovered by a young monk. Like all caves it was transformed into a buddhist temple, but this one is less overstuffed with buddhas than others. Its a large passage up to 10 m high and it has a cave river, which makes the floor wet and slippery. This seems to be the reason why you are allowed to keep your shoes, quite a thing for westerners. There are spacious chambers which are 100 m wide and 10 m high. And there is a lot of clay which is formed into small pagodas by worshippers, who place them on the walls as meritorious deeds.

The caretaker of the cave is an elderly novice. According to legend he vowed to cut off a finger if he was successful in his meditation. He was successful and the finger came off. This was actually not a wise decision, as you can only become a full monk if you are whole and complete. So he stayed a novice. For some reason such stories are rather common in Myanmar.

The cave is a temple and we are not sure if there is a fee for locals, but donations are obviously expected from worshippers. But there is a steep fee for foreigners, which caused many outraged comments on travel portals. But the good novice provides a vegetarian lunch to all who visit for free. And if you are lucky and he appears you can ask him permission to take a picture of him. You will be granted one picture and there are guards which will watch that you actually take only one picture.

This is a great project!
The initial task was to create a concept for an office building built using Mass Timber technology. Then another task was added - to create a store design on the first floor.
First, I studied examples of already built buildings, studied assembly technology and possible options. After that, I examined the location of this building. The building will be under construction in Iowa City and is now occupied by a small building that houses the Vice Vintage Luxury Store.
I made several sketches on paper using examples of buildings that the customer liked, the decision was made quickly enough!
Then the paper sketches were transferred to the architectural program, where the building was created using the information obtained about the technology.
The project took 77 hours and included the creation of the BIM model, environment and design of the store on the ground floor. Changes were also made during the project.
It was a very interesting project that gave everyone only positive emotions. The client was satisfied with the work done and is ready to continue cooperation in new projects.

#normandthegang was commissioned by Omar Gandhi Architect, to visualize the future of Peggy's Cove: a proposal to remove all vehicles from the current road loop in exchange for a safe, pedestrian-friendly pathway which is to be built atop the former road. The new boardwalk is fully accessible and provides two lookout points which cantilever out towards the lighthouse, providing a new perspective for those visiting again and the memory for a lifetime for those unable to navigate the rocky terrain.
